How long does individual certification take?
Because it's fully 1-on-1, the pace is entirely up to you. There's no fixed timeline. Some students move quickly, others take their time. Your instructor works around your schedule, not the other way around.
Do I need any prior teaching experience?
No. Most students start with zero teaching background. That's why you need this course. I've helped over 1,500 students graduate and become great teachers. I know what I'm doing and can do the same for you regardless of experience.
Will you help me find a job after I'm certified?
Yes, and this is somewhere the 1-on-1 model matters as much after certification as during it. I'm not running a TEFL factory processing hundreds or thousands of graduates a year, where job search support is an afterthought or a generic resource page. With fewer students, I can actually take a personal, hands-on interest in each person's job search, the same way I always have. I can't guarantee a job, and I won't pretend to have contacts in every country in the world, that wouldn't be honest. But if you're worried about landing somewhere new, not knowing anyone, not speaking the language, and wondering if you'll actually find work, that fear is normal, and it's one I've helped students work through for years. Am I too old to start teaching abroad?
Not even close. I'm 55 myself, so I'm not just telling you this works, I've lived the same questions you're probably asking right now. Can I use this certificate to teach in my home country?
Yes, and increasingly, this doesn't even require leaving your house. Online English teaching has grown massively, and there's real, ongoing demand for people who can teach ESL to students anywhere in the world, right from your kitchen table. Do I need to speak the local language?
No. Teaching English abroad doesn't require fluency in the local language, most programs hire based on your English teaching ability, not local language skill. In fact most school will not allow you to speak the local language even if you are fluent. They want 100% English immersion. That said, picking up some of the language once you're there makes daily life easier and is part of what makes living abroad feel like belonging instead of just visiting.

Can I take the course with a family member or friend?
Yes, and it's a great way to do this if you've got someone who wants to take the leap with you. You and your friend or family member will share one trainer and go through your tutoring sessions together, working through concepts side by side, bouncing ideas off each other, and sharing in the excitement of what's ahead. Can I take the course in person in Costa Rica?
You Bet!! Although the course stays 100% online and 1-on-1 for everyone. Should I take a group course rather than a 1-on-1 private course??
Honestly? Group classes can be a lot of fun, I taught them for 12 years, I know. If you're a social person and being surrounded by 10-15 twenty-somethings sounds fun to you, that's worth considering, it has real potential to be a blast. But odds are you won't vibe with the whole group. Drama is a constant, it's not all fun and games. I'm just saying.
